Meet a Mom: Meet Mindset Coach Talia Pines Guiding Women Through the Transitions of Motherhood, Work & Identity - Chicago North Shore Moms

Chicago North Shore Moms is pleased to bring you a very relatable Meet a Mom Spotlight with Highland Park mom of three Talia Pines, a mindset coach who can help with the proverbial “what’s-next” and “why-do-I-feel-I-need-more” kind of funk we moms feel from time-to-time. Talia is your girl for this and 100% gets it. Shortly after having her second baby, Talia began to feel a profound shift in her identity. That period prompted her to search for and work with a coach, where she not only found her footing but discovered a passion for supporting other moms in doing the same. Now a proud mom of three, Talia helps women reconnect with themselves, design lives they truly love, and embrace being a mom with both grace and grit. Get to know Talia’s story, more on what a mindset coach is and is not, her personal approach, and a gentle reminder to all moms that two things can be true at the same time. Welcome, Talia!

Meet a Mom: Feeling Energized with Talia Pines, Mindset Coach.

Hi Talia! Please introduce yourself. Where are you from originally? What city do you live in now?

Hi! I grew up in Highland Park and I live in Highland Park now. My family just moved back here last June, after spending a short time in New York City and eight years in Philadelphia (I married a Philly guy). It feels so good to be home. We are surrounded by a big family and close friends. Moving back to the Midwest wasn’t a given, and sometimes I can’t believe we live here now. Our kids are so happy to be near family. We love it.

And your little cuties?

We have three little ones – 5, 3, and 1 year old. Our oldest loves anything with wheels and protecting his younger siblings. Our middle is silly and warm and like his big brother, loves cars and trucks and things that go. And our baby girl is the go-with-the-flow third. She is so loved by her big brothers. Mornings with these kids are so sweet – I really love watching them light up when they see each other.

What are one or two fun facts to know about you?

We spent the first half of 2024 living in Santa Barbara. We were there for a little over six months – we actually had our baby girl there. We carved out a special chapter to create beautiful memories out west, before we moved to the Midwest. We really made it our home. The boys went to preschool, they took swim lessons at the Y, we shopped at Costco… We didn’t really know what it would be, and in the end it was this very cool bridge between our early parenthood Philly life and our forever life raising our kids in the Chicago suburbs.

What do you do for fun?

Anywhere in Highwood for our Thursday date nights. Country Kitchen for easy girlfriend lunches and Charlie Beinlich’s with the kids. My kids love the libraries in and around Highland Park, and we love getting to the lake. We fill our weekends with “hikes” on the different paths and seeing the water.

Any good reads you’d recommend?

I would say I’m in my listening season of life right now. I’m listening to the book Chatter on Audible, all about the power (and chaos) of your inner voice. And my podcast besties Mel Robbins, Kylie Kelce, and the ladies of No Guilt Mom keep me good company when I am doing any number of household things.

Speaking of multi-tasking, what’s one piece of professional advice you’ve gotten that’s guided you?

“Have a bias to action.” In other words, just start. You don’t need to have it all figured out to take the first step. That mantra helped me begin coaching when the path wasn’t totally clear, and it still grounds me when I start to overthink. Even a small step forward is still forward.

Your mantra as it pertains to your coaching career?

Two come to mind that really shape how I show up for myself and my clients.

The first: Your life is yours to create. There’s so much power in realizing you’re allowed to want something different and take steps toward it.

The second: Two things can be true. You can love your kids and still need a break. You can feel grateful and still crave something more. This mantra gives us permission to be complex, layered, and fully human, without explanation or apology.

Let’s get down to business. Please introduce Talia Joy Coaching. What is your area of expertise?

I help moms who are feeling overwhelmed shift their mindset, regain a sense of clarity, and move forward, which can feel especially hard when they’re stretched thin, emotionally drained, or unsure of what’s next. Women usually find me when they’re in the “in-between”: whether they’re between jobs, babies or (and) identities.

We work together to pause the noise, clarify what’s next, and move forward in a way that feels aligned and honest.

Meet a Mom: It's so Relatable! Talia Pines, Mindset Coach.

What was your own very personal “ah-ha” moment or life change….

After I had my second baby, I felt lost. I had the house, the partner, the job – but something was missing. I worked with a coach myself who allowed me to reconnect with myself in a way I didn’t know I needed. That experience changed everything. I realized how many other moms were holding it all together on the outside while also wondering, What’s next for me? That’s who I built this space for.

It can feel very hard, and often comes with a side of guilt, to accept the reality that our lives are craving something else. We get confused, like, does this mean my family doesn’t make me happy? No, not at all. We love our kids. This just means you’re a human feeling something. And you really do deserve the space to step back and find a new path toward wholeness and fulfillment.

So, what exactly is a life coach and what is it not?

A coach is:
  • a thought partner who helps you pave a path toward change
  • a believer in your absolute ability to achieve the goals you define
  • an accountability partner who helps you stay on track throughout your journey to reaching your goals
Using research-backed tools and techniques, along with lived experience, I help you gain clarity for what you want most and work through barriers and limiting beliefs that live along the path from Wanting to Having.

A coach does not diagnose or prescribe.

How does mindset coaching work with your program?

I offer coaching that meets you where you are on your journey. Whether you’re looking for a single 1:1 call to gain clarity and direction, or you’re ready for deeper support through a 6-month or 12-month program, there’s a space for you here. Each experience is personalized; we begin by identifying what’s coming up for you right now and what you want to move toward. From there, we co-create goals that feel true to your season, and I provide support, resources, and tangible tools you can actually use. It’s not one-size-fits-all. It’s thoughtful, flexible, and designed to help you reconnect so you can take real steps forward.

What is your experience / credentials as it relates to being a mindset coach?

I’m certified as a transformational life coach and I am a certified Design Your Life coach. I also have 15 years of experience in media sales and relationship-building, which taught me how to connect with people in a real, meaningful way.

And I’m a mom of three, I live this! I know what it’s like to feel lost in the juggle, to want more, and to wonder if it’s okay to ask for it. That blend of experience, personal and professional is what makes this work so real for me.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about Talia Joy Coaching?

The best part of what I do is having the honor of witnessing the transformational shift in the women I work with. It’s a tangible shift where a belief or a doubt that she’s held onto for sometimes her whole life is finally traded in for something far more generous, supportive and aligned with who she is today. That clarity opens everything.

Motherhood can be both beautiful and incredibly hard. You’re allowed to want something just for you. It’s not selfish. And when you’re ready, I’m here to walk with you through the process.
