This is Ellie and her family. She’s the Co-Founder mama behind this SUPER helpful resource website. Originally from Los Angeles, Ellie and her husband moved to Chicago in 2005 and has lived on Chicago’s North Shore since 2011. “When I moved to Highland Park as a new mom, and with one on the way, I remember feeling overwhelmed at not knowing any mom resources as basic as pediatricians and dentists and equally as necessary tot lots, kid-approved activities, etc…” And whether you’re a native to the North Shore or a transplant, a new mom, or mom to high school aged children, this site is for you! Chicago North Shore Moms is dedicated to giving moms the gift of time by bringing local activities, kid/parent-approved resources, inspiring mom and small business features and more all in ONE spot.
What’s the story? Ellie’s career started in commercial interior design in San Diego while obtaining a degree in Interior Design from Design Institute of San Diego. She had a great run of 10 years dabbling in amazing projects like college libraries, hotels and corporate office renovations. Alas, after having her first baby in 2009 just after returning to work, her then 3-month old fell seriously ill (he’s fine today!) and that was that. “It was so hard to leave the field of interior design after working so hard to obtain the proper degrees, accreditations and networks. But it’s what was best for my family and continues to be so.” Shortly after leaving her job, she landed a part-time marketing and advertising position at a local nonprofit in Chicago, which she enjoyed for 6+ years before launching Chicago North Shore Moms. “And I rarely look back. I wouldn’t be true to myself if I still didn’t wonder what my career would have been like if I stayed, but I absolutely LOVE what I’m doing now helping local parents and local businesses.”
