Sugar and Ice – Sugar Cookie and Icing Recipe! | Chicago North Shore Moms

This Sugar Cookie and Sugar Cookie Icing Recipe has been a hit in my family and with guests for at least a decade! So every once in a while when I get super motivated for this project (and it is a project), I bust out the tattered and stained paper copies and get movin’. We hope you’ll enjoy!

Sugar Cookie from Food Network 2011 Alton Brown

3 cups all-purpose flour (I omitted about 1/4c of flour and that worked better for me).

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg, beaten

1 tbls milk

powdered sugar, for rolling out dough (do not use flour)

Visit the Food Network site for the directions and enjoy!

Sugar Cookie Icing from allrecipes.com

1 cup confectioners’ sugar

2 tsps milk

2 tsps light corn syrup

1/4 tsp flavored extract, almond, mint, cherry, vanilla

assorted food coloring

Visit allrecipes.com for directions.

Decorators tip: double the recipe and divide into 4 shallow bowls. Add food color to each bowl, a few drops each. Dip your cookies face down into the bowl and place on a wire rack to dry. Decorate your cookies with sprinkles before the cookie dries. Decorate your cookies with more icing after the initial icing dries.
