As leaves begin to fall and change color, we’re ready to transition our gardens and yards into rich hued Fall landscapes. It feels festive and creates a warm, pre-holiday feeling for sure, but did you know that Fall is also the best time to start thinking about spring blooms? Yes, it’s time to pick up bulbs like tulips and daffodils to plant now! As the ground thaws come spring, your gardens will be bright and fresh with color! These are a few tried and true garden centers to get you started! The list is short and sweet, all small businesses and local!
Ferraro Garden Spot, Northbrook
Such a cute little “spot”, that delivers big! Family run and covering all of your garden needs each season, this is always a go-to for seasonal shifts (home decor, pumpkins and Christmas trees)!
Edwards Florest, Winnetka
This adorable local flower shop is deceivingly big and carries garden flowers, fillers and grasses for all seasons. (Beware- home & outdoor accents are too good to pass up. Plan on leaving with something!)
Victor Hlavacek Greenhouse, Winnetka
Right off Green Bay Rd, this smaller, quant florist is also a garden center. They offer wonderful customer service and have home delivery options for larger shrubs and trees. (They were so helpful when we first moved to the North Shore!)
This large garden center will have you browsing for hours and leaving with far more than you what your went in for! From home decor, to candles and pet food, Chalet has it all.
Lurvey Garden Center, Des Plains
A little further from the North Shore than some, but a one stop shop for all things garden landscaping, outdoor & seasonal home decor.
