The School of Rock has redefined music education! Our mission is to provide performance-based music education through the lens of modern music…you know, the tunes kids already rock out to on Spotify!
At the core of School of Rock’s philosophy is a two-part educational model. Students take a weekly private lesson with the opportunity to have some input into their curriculum. Our philosophy is, by playing tunes the student likes to listen to, they’re more likely to find practicing fun!
In weekly group band rehearsals, students apply the skills learned from their private lessons. This team orientation provides accountability and social skills development, helping the student to develop a sense of community and purpose. Each season culminates in a performance at a local music venue!
Our teachers are professional musicians who have worked in the music industry for years. Many of them have performed around the country, cut albums, sold songs to big acts, and gig regularly in the Chicagoland area. They bring their know-how of the industry to their students by teaching them the elements required to be a true pro. Being a real musician isn’t just about skill on an instrument. Reading chord charts, understanding song structures, knowing how to care for gear, how to book a gig, projecting stage presence, and much much more are often overlooked skills.
We ROCK the summer, too! Outside of our regular programming, we also feature week-long Summer Camps for all ages and experience levels. Summer 2022 features “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” and “Best of the 90s” camps!
