Recipe: Power to the Toast! | Chicago North Shore Moms
Try this easy and delicious banana toast recipe packed with protein and fiber to get your day going right! “Getting hydrated and eating a healthy breakfast with a balance of whole grains, fiber and protein not only keeps kids (and parents) focused all morning, but also gets our metabolism started for the day,” says Dr. Leslie Noble, Pediatrician with of NorthShore University HealthSystem, in Wilmette. Go on mama, “carpe diem!”

Banana Toast

  • 1 slice of whole grain bread (my faves are Ezekiel 4:9® Sesame Sprouted Whole Grain Bread and Dave’s Killer Bread® Thin Sliced 21 Whole Grains and Seeds Organic Bread – both packed with protein and fiber)
  • 1/2 tsp. of one of your choice: butter, margarine, seed butter or nut butter spread thinly
  • Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 banana sliced thin
  • Option to add other season fruit like strawberries or blueberries

Directions

Toast bread to desired crunch; while toast is still warm spread butter or margarine; sprinkle ground cinnamon; place sliced bananas on toast; enjoy!
