ParkSchool: A One-of-a-Kind Early Childhood Program to Know About! | Chicago North Shore Moms

Moms love flexible preschool options which is why Chicago North Shore Moms is excited to help introduce ParkSchool, a one-of-a-kind early childhood educational program for 2, 3 and 4 year olds! Read on to see what makes ParkSchool an exceptional learning experience for your child.

This fall, The Park District of Highland Park will be opening its doors for the first time to ParkSchool that will be held at their West Ridge Center! The 4 year old classes have options at Heller Nature Center and Rosewood Beach as well. This expansive early-childhood program was developed through parent feedback. The Park District took a deeper look at how to incorporate their most popular early-education enrichment classes into flexible scheduling that they knew the community was looking for! Choose half-day, full-day, before & after care, 1, 2, 3 and 5 day programs. PLUS your children will learn from the same beloved early childhood educational staff at West Ridge Center, Heller Nature Center and Rosewood Beach Interpretive Center. The partnership of the Park District’s entire team of recreational professionals brings a new level of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) with the added benefit of recreation education for children. It is a Kindergarten-Readiness program that is unique to any other program on the North Shore.

Walk through West Ridge Center to the sound of giggles, the magic of learning and the buzz of activity that fill every nook and cranny at ParkSchool for the 2019/2020 school year. Peek into their classrooms and you will see eager youngsters engaged in creative lessons around technology, science, and mathematics. Turn the corner into the gym and you will find one of the Park District’s professional staff from Sunset Valley Golf Club, Deer Creek Racquet Club, Centennial Ice Arena – just to name a few — teaching a room full of excited students the fundamentals of tennis, golf, gymnastics, basketball, and more. Walk out to the 16-acre backyard at West Ridge and you will find children playing or participating in an outdoor art lesson. You will find the 4 year old class climbing aboard the ParkSchool bus for a fun-filled afternoon exploring and learning about the wonders of nature at the 97-acre Heller Nature Center or the marvels of the Lake Michigan ecosystems at Rosewood Beach; a perfect way to prepare for full-day Kindergarten for the 4 year old classes.

The Park District believes that creating a strong love of exploration and curiosity early in a child’s life establishes a pattern of lifelong learning. The core foundation of their program is that success is measured by nurturing and celebrating each child’s individual development. They embrace experiential project-based activities that enable children to discover their true potential—methods that encourage them to question, explore, and discover. It is through ParkSchool’s unique blend of a supportive warm environment and discovery-based play that children can truly expand their imagination, acquire a confidence and inquisitiveness that allows them to establish a successful beginning for a bright future of learning.
