Meet a Mom: Just Scratching the Surface with Nikki Batsaikhan, Founder of The Beauty Library!

Hi Nikki! Give us a quick snapshot of you and your life right now.

I live in Skokie and work Monday through Saturday, 9am–6pm, running my own business, The Beauty Library in Highland Park. After work, I transition to my roles as a wife and parent, assisting with errands, pickups, and drop-offs for my children’s activities, and cooking when possible. My husband handles everything else while I am working, and I could not have done it without his endless support. On Sundays, I teach Sunday School at New Future Mongolian Christian Community Church in Lombard, IL. A 24-hour day feels far too short for our schedule!

Where are you from originally and why did you move to the North Shore?

I was born in Mongolia. My family immigrated to the states when I was 13-years old. I grew up in Park Ridge and moved to Skokie after marrying my husband. Currently we are planning to move to Highland Park, as we are deeply moved by the support of the community.

Tell us about your family. What does motherhood look like in your house these days?

I am married to my high school sweetheart; we began dating during our teenage years despite attending different schools. I began my journey into motherhood at age 20 and have since been blessed with two sons who are our pride and joy.

Being a mother to two boys has been a dynamic and transformative journey. Their energy ensures that life is never dull, and they have significantly shaped the person I am today. We truly cherish our time together as a family, and their presence is incredibly fulfilling.

What’s something about you that might surprise people—outside of your work and mom life?

I’m very involved with our church community. Besides being busy with my daily life I teach Sunday School on Sundays and we host bible study on Wednesday nights with our young adults. We try our best to mentor young adults who are struggling to cope through their struggles they may face or just whoever needs companionship because a lot of them are students who are studying abroad away from their loved ones so we host every Wednesday with warm meals that remind them home.

Where are your go-to spots right now?

As a new business-owner, I’m currently exploring downtown Highland Park. I love Harmony cafe, Love’s yogurt and had a lovely experience at Gordon Salon for my hair!

It’s time to get down to business! Please introduce The Beauty Library. When did you open your doors, what did you do before this, what services do you currently offer?

The Beauty Library is your destination for elevated beauty and self-care. Located in Highland Park, we deliver a clean luxury environment and clean products specially thought out for your relaxation. We offer simple and clean to elegant, and everything in between. We bring your nail ideas to life. We opened in November 2025. I have been renting suites from JC’s salon suites in Highland park since 2021 and I personally specialize in nail art. I take pride in the quality of my work while staying eager to learn, grow, and everything nail art has to offer.

What was the reason you set out to open your beauty salon and why did you name it The Beauty Library?

The Beauty Library was created out of my passion for helping people feel confident, cared for, heard and seen.

I wanted to build something more than just nail space. I wanted a place where clients could slow down, relax and enjoy a personalized beauty experience. I had dear friends help pick the perfect name that reflects and is meaningful to me. Among other names The Beauty Library stood out because a library holds endless stories, it was so meaningful to me because I made very personable relationships with my clients who became lifelong friends. I’m so honored to be part of their remarkable chapter of their life. The Beauty Library keeps so many stories of my clients, when you book that service I get to read a chapter of someone else’s life. I love getting to know people. Every client brings their own story and we design and create and become part of it, and I want more stories.

Please tell our audience what makes this nail salon so special.

What makes The Beauty Library special is the experience. It’s not just about nails, it’s from the moment you walk in, the welcoming space that feels clean, calm. Every detail is thought out just for you. It holds all my intentions from the hygiene standards, customer care we hold to the atmosphere we create.

We also offer a space to host, connect, and celebrate. Whether it’s small beauty events, private gatherings, or moments to celebrate with friends. We take the time to understand your style, your preference and your vision – so every service and event feels like it was made just for you.

You’ve emphasized providing a space for community to feel at home. Can you tell us more about this?

The Beauty Library is a space built for real life, I understand that many of our lives are always on the move, so I created an environment where you can step in, breathe, and feel at home. We have separate rooms for manicures and pedicures. You’re not just another appointment we rush through.

What do you want our readers to know that we have not already covered?

We would love to collaborate with other vendors so please reach out and let’s start conversation!

We are offering space not only for events, rentals for pop up events, book clubs or beauty professionals to come together with their creativity to host events.
