Hi Jenny! Please introduce yourself.

Hi everyone! I’m Jenny (Forman) Piermont. I grew up in Deerfield and am now raising my family in Deerfield after living in the city for 10 years. It feels so good to be home.

You’re a mama! How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have two sweet daughters. Lenix is 4.5 and Josie is 1.5.

What’s your favorite thing about being a mom?

I love having buddies around. These girls are the best company. We love our home dance parties! Yes, my husband joins in too 🤗

Do you have any mom tips make quarantine/COVID life a little easier?

Everyone has their own definition of happiness. Try hard not to compare yourself to other families and do what makes you happy. I love to incorporate my kids in the things that I enjoy. My daughter can tell you all about Mindfulness 🙂 and loves showing off her favorite yoga poses. Also, we crave the fresh air so even a quick walk around the block helps us to reset.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I am an Elementary School Counselor. I have been at the same wonderful school for 9 years. Both my career and new creative outlet have been extremely rewarding.

Any local favorite takeout restaurants?

Italian Kitchen. It’s delicious and everyone is so kind! Kindness goes a long way in our family. I have been eating here since I was a little girl so I love to still support this local restaurant.

You’re a mompreneur! Please introduce Pop of Color

I started Pop of Color last year when the lock down began. I would play around with balloon arrangements and deliver them to friends and family in hopes to put a smile on their face.  During the most isolating times it was a great way to connect with people and spread joy all at the same time. I’ve always loved birthdays and celebrations so to be part of so many is really special to me!

You started making balloon arrangements for friends – how did  you know how to do that? It’s definitely sculptural art!

I really just started experimenting and I learned a little bit more each time.

Who are your mentors in life?

Without hesitation, my Mom. She is easily my biggest inspiration in every aspect of my life. She is genuine, loyal, creative and so nurturing. I used to just sit and watch her create such beautiful work. My mom painted on clothes. I was that little girl walking around with the matching shirt, skirt, and socks. Haha! I would do anything to have some of those clothes right now. It’s surreal that I have my own daughters doing the same now.

A huge shout out to the Deerfield (and surrounding) community. I would never have continued to follow this path without their words of encouragement and trust.

You’re just starting down this new path, congrats mama! Can you pass forward any advice for our fellow, future mompreneurs?

Start small and validate each idea before moving on to the next one.

Most importantly make sure you enjoy it.

What are the 2 most common questions that people reach out to ask you?

Do you do this all on your own? Yes! Hopefully soon I will add additional team members to Pop of Color.

Do your girls help you? My youngest is usually sleeping when I work, but her reaction to all the balloons is all I need to know it will be a hit! My oldest loves watching and helping. I try to include her as much as I can. “Can you count 20 balloons out for me? Can you find me a color balloon that starts with the letter P.” She loves it!

It’s time for rapidfire… Go!

Current lipstick brand/color: Laura Mercier – Pink Blush

Undergrad college/major: Indiana University and studied Human Development and Family Studies. Masters in School Counseling from National Louis University.

Favorite candy: Mambas

Strangest thing in your purse right now: a My Little Pony toy

Last book you read: Dear Girl by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Paris Rosenthal.

I don’t know if you know this family or have heard of their story, but it’s incredible.  It’s a children’s book that I read to my daughters almost everyday.   The mom (Amy) passed away, but Paris (the daughter) has recently written another book Dear Boy, with her dad.  They are an amazing family.

Your binge shows: Shark Tank

Have you thought about how you and your family are going to stay sane this winter with shutdowns and such?

Dance parties. Lots of home dance parties. Everyone needs a wiggle break.

What’s next for Pop of Color

I purposely called it Pop of Color so I could expand. I have recently launched my personalized candy boxes! The rainbow boxes are the most popular. They are so visually appealing to kids and delicious!

What is your lead time for balloon and candy box reservations?

It varies from week to week.  I always tell people to just DM me so I can check my schedule.

What an awesome accompaniment to the balloon sculptures. A great idea! How can we connect with you for more information about reserving a balloon sculpture and candy box?
