Ready to hit the sand?  There’s no shortage of beautiful beaches on the North Shore.  From North to South, check out where to catch the rays & waves this year.  


Evanston

Evanston hosts multiple beach areas winding along Sheridan Road, each with their own personality!  Tip- this is the longest stretch of sidewalk for pedestrians that crave lake views!

-Greenwood St. Beach
-Lee St. Beach
-South Blvd. Beach


Wilmette

Gillson Park and Beach boasts a kids play set, dunes, sailing and a dog beach!  Beach projected to open 5/29, passes required.


Kenilworth

While small in size, Kenilworth Beach offers quite a bit with multi-level dining areas, a sailing club and a shallow beach great for littles.


Winnetka

Home to a dog beach, a boating beach and multiple available for swimming, Winnetka beaches offer something for everyone.
Lloyd Beach, The beach and park are currently closed for construction. Lloyd will reopen and be fully operational for the 2021 boating season.
Tower Road Beach, Tower will be open and fully operational this summer.
Maple Street Beach, Maple will be open and fully operational this summer.
Centennial Beach, Centennial will remain open as a dog beach for the 2021 season, pending lakefront conditions and future shoreline/bluff construction. A valid pass is required to enter the beach.
Elder Lane Beach, Due to high lake levels and safety concerns, Elder Lane Beach will be closed for the 2021 season.


Glencoe

With a playground overlooking the water and a large sandy beach, Glencoe Beach is perfect for families!


Highland Park 

Nearly ten percent of the Illinois Lake Michigan shoreline is within Highland Park! Opening May 29th, dawn til dusk.
Millard Beach, A non-swimming beach for passive recreation.
Moraine Beach, Dog beach and a non-swimming beach for passive recreation. Please Note: Dog Beach is closed indefinitely. For more information, click here.
Park Avenue Boating Facility, North Shore Yacht Club, concrete and sand launching ramps, and a non-swimming beach.
Rosewood Beach, Swimming beach,  beachfront Interpretive Center, nature programming, beach yoga & volleyball.


Lake Forest

Forest Park Beach has a crescent shape to keep waves at a minimum & fantastic for little ones!


Lake Bluff 

With two beach areas, play equipment, and chairs, Sunrise Beach is perfection.
