Keshet’s Community Blood Drive
| As we approach Mother’s Day, I wanted to share something that feels especially meaningful to me—both as a mom and in my work.
I work at Keshet, a Northbrook-based nonprofit, and we’re hosting a community blood drive as part of the national “Donate for Mothers” campaign. It’s centered on supporting mothers and families in a very real, tangible way. One statistic that has really stayed with me: 1 in 83 women in the United States require a blood transfusion after childbirth. Blood is also needed every two seconds. It’s something many of us don’t think about until it becomes deeply personal. Within our own community, there are families who have experienced complicated or traumatic births. This feels like a simple but powerful way to show up for one another. Date: May 15 The donation itself takes about an hour, and each donation can help save up to three lives.
