Gratitude Generation – Make Pupsicles For Shelter Dogs March-May

Help us make pupsicles to provide shelter dogs will a cool, special treat! Use the recipe below (or another recipe of your choosing) to make 40-50 pupsicles and then drop them off at Orphans of the Storm (2200 Riverwoods Rd, Deerfield) on the Saturday you sign up for (they have limited freezer space so please do not bring more pupsicles than you register for). If you would like to be reimbursed for your expenses, please save your receipt and email it to [email protected]

Pupsicles should be dropped off at the main entrance between 12-4:30. The sidewalk beyond the entrance gate leads to the main office (door w/awning).

RECIPE

5 oz. paper cups OR silicone ice cube trays
1 32oz. container of plain Greek yogurt (regular or lactose-free)
1 16oz. can of pumpkin (plain, no sugar)
2 cups broth (unsalted beef or unsalted vegetable)
2-3 cups dry dog food (aka kibble)
dog biscuits (to place in cups and used as “the pupsicle sticks”)

-Mix pumpkin and yogurt.
-Add broth and mix in kibble.
-Fill paper cups or silicone ice cube trays allowing enough room to then place a dog biscuit in each cup/cube section.
-Set a biscuit into each cup/ice cube tray section
-Freeze!
-If you’ve used ice cube trays, feel free to pop each pupsicle out and gently place into a bag once frozen. Place in freezer until they are needed. If you’ve used paper cups, you may snip any edge of the cup with safety scissors in one area to create a sort of pull tab. Volunteers will tear the cups away from the pupsicles when giving them to the dogs.

***if using a recipe with peanut butter, please do not use peanut butter that has xylitol or extra sugar and salt
