What is Insight Advocacy?

Insight Advocacy is a 501 c3 organization dedicated to advocating for inclusion, visibility, and diversity in all spaces on the North Shore. Organized by a group of dedicated parents, we saw the need for representation and celebration of culture in our overall community including in business, arts, and schools.

What is the overall goal of Insight Advocacy?

Our goal is to serve as a voice for those who often go unseen in our community. We successfully worked with BPAC leaders in 2022 to prevent cuts to D112’s incredibly desirable Dual Language program. This program is essential as it provides not only the opportunity for participants to become bi-lingual, but it also creates schools that are culturally diverse which benefits all students.

How does Insight Advocacy work to achieve this goal?

We also develop, plan, and moderate educational forums which are open to all. These forums celebrate the many cultures that make up our vibrant community. Currently, we are working towards the re-establishment of the Equity Advisory Committee within the D112 schools. We believe it is essential to have an established body of community members who work collaboratively with school leaders to address topics related to diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Who or what businesses have been your local partners so far?

We remain dedicated to continued partnerships and collaborations with other organizations throughout the North Shore including The Art Center Highland Park, BPAC (Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee) the Highland Park and the Highwood libraries and District 112.

Our Board includes Janea D. Harris, Isis Fernandez Sykes, Jaret Fishman, Rocki Hunter, and Agi Semrad.
