The Guiding Hand by Marlena Jayatilake

Cry, moan, groan and the hysterical laughter that occurs when I’m home on a much deserved off day. My children, my husband, and the feast we put on our table every Sunday – oh what good times to be had, and in the moment. The overwhelming desire to make others feel well, the itch that gets scratched whenever someone feels better after drinking one of my many concoctions… all of this is what moves me. It’s the “a-ha moment” when once unapproachable herbs and roots become part of everyday life because you married that genius who introduced you to these little miracles. The guiding hand in the universe that shows you what the future looks like for you and me only too willing to follow.

I am Marlena, Marlena Jayatilake, mom to 2 amazing children and a phenomenal husband who still sees me after almost 20 years of marriage. I am the proud owner of Love That Spice, a wellness-focused tea & spice company. I am an herbal goddess, blending all things wellness into a warm hug in a cup. What started as a little dream or seedling has taken root, and has grown to reality that I can do all things. I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors who gave their very lives so that I could be here today and say “I AM.”

About Marlena: Born and raised on the south side of Chicago and now an Evanston implant (for 20 years), I made Highland Park my second home 10 years ago where I humbly operate my spice and tea store. I pride myself on being “not your average tea shop,” meaning my focus is on being well and fueling the body with all things good. My organic tea and/or spice blends are made right here in my store….grinding and hand-blending until I create a blend that gives your body just what it needs, at the right time. From a tummy ache to gut health to liver health we have a tea for that!
