Meet The Three Generations of Third Coast Luxury at Compass Winnetka - Chicago North Shore Moms

For Julie Bradbury Miller and Coco Harris, real estate has always been more than a profession; it is part of their family story. Both women were raised by mothers who built distinguished careers in real estate at a time when balancing ambition, motherhood, and leadership often came with sacrifice. What began as childhood observations of hardworking mothers has evolved into a shared calling and, ultimately, the creation of Third Coast Luxury at Compass, a multigenerational real estate team bonded in family, relationships and community.

Today, as their own children enter the profession to create a thriving three-generation business, the work feels even more meaningful. Here’s how it all began…

Looking Back: Two Paths, One Foundation

Coco Harris, who was raised in Hartford, Connecticut, reflects on how differently she viewed her mother’s career as a child versus as an adult: “I have a very distinct memory of feeling embarrassed that my mom not only worked, but was so successful and busy that it was often my dad who showed up at my sporting events and school functions. At the time, I desperately wanted the kind of mom many of my friends had; the one waiting at home after school with a ‘plate of cookies.’

“It wasn’t until I became an adult that I fully understood how hard she worked and everything she sacrificed to create opportunities not only for herself, but for our family. Looking back now, I see her not only as an incredible mother, but also as someone who modeled resilience, independence, and courage.”

Years later, when Coco found herself at a professional crossroads, it was her mother who encouraged her to pursue real estate. “One piece of advice she gave me has stayed with me ever since,” Coco notes. “‘There are no guarantees when it comes to professional success, but if failure isn’t an option, I’d bet on myself every single time.’”

For Julie Bradbury Miller, the journey took a parallel but distinct path. Julie recalls: “Working alongside my mother for more than 20 years was one of the greatest gifts of my life and career. She not only helped launch my career in real estate, but also served as my mentor, role model, and steady source of guidance… Watching her build relationships, navigate challenges with grace, and genuinely care for her clients shaped the foundation of the professional I would become.

“In the early years, my mother was clearly the leader and teacher. But during the last eight years we worked together, our roles naturally shifted as I became the lead agent and top producer of our team. That transition was incredibly rewarding because it reflected the trust and respect we had for one another…

“The lessons she taught me continue to guide me every day; the importance of hard work, always doing the right thing even when it is difficult, and understanding that reputation is earned over time through consistency, integrity, and trust.”

Passing the Torch to the Third Generation

No one was more surprised than Julie and Coco when their own children expressed interest in becoming licensed Realtors. For that reason, the creation of Third Coast Luxury is deeply personal, cementing a third-generation legacy.

Together, Julie and Coco built the business with the belief that real estate is ultimately about people, trust, and relationships; with home and family at the core. While the team is known for representing exceptional homes throughout Chicago’s North Shore, the care and attention to details lies within guiding families through important life transitions with care, honesty, and empathy.

Now, as they watch their children, Grace Miller and Alex Harris, become the third generation in real estate, they feel an even greater sense of pride and purpose. Third Coast Luxury represents the continuation of a family story; one built across three generations by families who believe deeply in the power of perseverance and showing up for others.

Three generations. One mission: to place people and relationships at the center of everything they do.
