Founded in 1918, Baker was established to provide a high-quality, innovative education for children in preschool through 8th grade. For our first 87 years, Baker was the lab school for the teacher college at National Louis University, until we became independent in 2005.

We continue to carry out the vision of our first school director, Clara Belle Baker, ensuring academic excellence through our dynamic, experience-based curriculum that responds to the unique needs and strengths of each and every child.

Countryside Day School

The mission of Countryside Day School is to provide an education that assists students in developing the qualities of Respect, Responsibility, and Resourcefulness so they become great students and exceptional adults.
Our classrooms are carefully prepared by Montessori teachers to provide activities for your child at each developmental level. We follow the Montessori philosophy of learning, as taught by Dr. Maria Montessori. A classroom experience at CDS is an “internship to adulthood” that will encourage your child to become more than a great student but also an exceptional adult with a strong sense of agency and empathy.

First Presbyterian Preschool

Since 1963, First Presbyterian Preschool has been on a mission to foster a nurturing Christian environment that initiates a lifetime love of learning in young children. The established program upholds its strong reputation in the community by offering four developmentally appropriate class options with exceptionally low student/teacher ratios, ensuring children leave well prepared for kindergarten.

Led by Christian values, First Presbyterian Preschool’s highly qualified educators facilitate a rich project-based learning environment that encourages individual participation and stimulates intellectual curiosity and growth. The result furthers the development of happy, independent, confident children eager to embrace life’s adventures and challenges.

First Presbyterian Preschool has a long-standing reputation of graduating children who are kindergarten ready. The program’s philosophy focuses on the whole child through social and emotional development coupled with differentiated instruction to meet each child’s academic engagement. In addition to four developmentally appropriate preschool class options, First Presbyterian Preschool facilitates an Extended Day program with Snack and Play and STEM/STEAM Enrichment Classes.

Glencoe Junior Kindergarten

Glencoe Junior Kindergarten and Nursery School (GJK) is an independent, nonprofit, and play-based preschool dedicated to the unique development of each child. ​We recognize that they’re ready to interact within a secure setting beyond the home and provide a warm and nurturing environment that stimulates and inspires them to explore, create, learn, and imagine. ​

We encourage each child to reach his or her potential in all areas of development — including cognitive, physical, social, and emotional — with play-based activities that allow them to express themselves creatively and foster their self esteem. In our lively classrooms, our students engage in activities that incorporate math, literacy, science, art, music, cooperation, and more.

Gorton Children’s Learning Center

Learning Center provides care in a nurturing, safe, convenient, and fun environment. To meet every child where they are on their developmental journey.

The foundation of our play-based program is social-emotional development. It is intricately woven into the design of our three pronged educational programming. The three prongs that support our social emotional platforms are play based, theme and letter of the week ( ages 2 -5) In the infant toddler area this program strategy is accomplished through low ratio staffing and classroom design.

JCC Chicago Early Childhood: Bernard Weinger JCC, ‘Z’ Frank Apachi, JCC at Am Shalom

JCC Chicago Early Childhood meets each child’s needs while preparing them for the next steps personally and educationally. Warm and nurturing educators—teachers, directors, enrichment specialists, and our full-time, licensed social services team—work purposefully with each child as they engage in active learning, exploring their world, embracing nature and the outdoors.

Our educators are focused on social-emotional learning to build resiliency and connections within the classroom communities. Helping children manage emotions, display empathy for others, establish healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions are the cornerstones of growing good kids. These essential skills are critical to their future academic success.

Full-day 3s and 4s at Bernard Weinger JCC receive a free camp scholarship at Apachi Village and weekly swim lessons in our full-sized pool.

Lake Forest Country Day School

LFCDS students learn in a Dress Code that promotes age and developmentally-appropriate standards, personal neatness, and consistency across our community. Ravinia Nursery School

Ravinia Nursery School is a developmental, play-based preschool for children ages two through five years. At RNS, we inspire a love for learning by providing an environment that honors each child’s unique development and interests. Our curriculum supports the emotional and social growth of each child so that they learn how to express themselves, solve problems and work cooperatively within a group. Regina Dominican

Roycemore School

The Roycemore experience empowers students to discover their passions, find their voice, think without limits, and live courageously. With experiential learning opportunities, a wide variety of extracurricular activities, individualized college counseling, fun community traditions, and a diverse and intimate school community. Roycemore is an independent PK-12 college preparatory school that was founded on Northwestern University’s campus in Evanston, IL in 1915. North Shore Country Day
