What has wide-set red eyes, emits loud acoustic signals and emerges every 17 years? the 17-yer periodical cicada, of course! As the Brood XIII Periodical Cicada gets ready to buzz throughout our area, join The Grove National Historic Landmark to celebrate this rare, natural phenomenon!

Explore the lifecycle of this fascinating insect with a full day of educational fun for the entire family. The Cicada Celebration exhibit grand opening is free and includes family-friendly crafts, exhibits, artwork, nature walks and giveaways. Guess the number of cicada shells in a jar for a chance to win exciting prizes and pose inside human-sized cicada cut-outs for the perfect photo opportunity. T-shirts and other cicada souvenirs will be available for purchase.
