Evanston Holi Fest
March 26 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
All are invited to welcome spring together at this festival traditionally celebrated by throwing colored powder into the air and dancing to Bollywood music. Mt. Everest Restaurant will have samosas and vegetarian and non-vegetarian lunch boxes for sale. One River School of Evanston will provide a festive backdrop for color-filled photos and there will be art activities for kids. Colored powder packets will be available for sale for $2.
Bindu Reddy founded the Evanston Association of Indians (EAI) to create awareness of the rich Indian culture by offering public activities in Evanston. “With more than 1,500 Indian residents in Evanston, in addition to the strong Indian community at Northwestern University, I hope to provide not only a touch of home for those immigrants, but also traditional activities from India that all Evanstonians can enjoy.”
“Downtown Evanston is excited to partner with EAI to bring a new, cultural event to Evanston residents and welcome visitors from outside of Evanston to explore the downtown area,” says Laura Brown of Downtown Evanston. “We also love the involvement of the local business community and are thrilled that Mt. Everest Restaurant and One River School will have a presence at Holi Fest.”
