Ready to Kick 2020 to the curb? US TOO!
We’ve put together a few creative ideas to celebrate New Years Eve safely, but while still having fun this year!
Reflect on the year while listening to New Philharmonic!
Cozy in, light a fire or a few pretty candles and relax to the beautiful music of the New Philharmonic, live streamed from McAninch Arts Center.
Feel like dancing?
These artists are live streaming their shows! Make a day of it! Decorate the house, put out sweet + savory charcuterie, mock-tails and break out your moves!
Start your celebration at noon with kids favorites Tunes with Tim or Mr Dave NYE Baby Rave!
Once the kiddos hit the sheets, kick it up a notch strait into the new year!
⁃ Bieber Fever? Catch his first show since 2017.
⁃ Feeling soulful? The Avett Brothers are a fav & never disappoint- but especially with guests like Willie Nelson, Norah Jones and Dex Sheppard as the Master of Ceremonies.
⁃ Wanna rock? My Morning Jacket always brings it or catch Kiss from Dubai in the afternoon!
⁃ Miss your club days? Dance the night away with virtual EDM festival Tomorrowland featuring, David Guetta, Dipo, Snoop and 20+ more DJs! (Click for a peek of past years live)
Take a Staycation!
Head downtown for a little change of scenery! Order takeout from your favorite Chicago spot and have a room picnic!
With Kids- The Omni has great rooms for families (All suites) and an easy downtown location for shopping and exploring. You might even be able to snag a skating reservation at the ribbon.
Without Kids- The Zachery is a favorite of only for a break from downtown noise, but the entire space is gorgeous. Plus you’re walking distance to Southport Ave for shopping and Wrigley has some amazing pop-up holiday bars that serve drinks outside. (We have actually taken our kids to a few early in the day when they open- some are so over the top holiday and the kids love it!)
Time Square Ball Drop & Wishing Wall-
Feel nostalgic and familiar while celebrating essential workers who made this year possible for us all. Jennifer Lopez along with a slew of other celebrity appearances entertain through the night.
Digitally add your wish for 2021! Your wishes will be added to the confetti that flutters down in the heart of Times Square on New Year’s Eve! Each year, people from around the planet include their wishes for the new year on pieces of official Times Square New Year’s Eve confetti, either digitally or in person.
Stay Festive with The Nutcracker-
Support the future of live music while watching a classic from home! The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra’s reimagined 2020 holiday concert includes The Nutcracker Suite, featuring jazz interpretations of the beloved Tchaikovsky original.
Create a Spa Night-
After the year we’ve been through, what better than a relaxing spa night to bid 2020 farewell! Break out the bubbly, trays of tiny sandwiches and mini deserts so you can snack while you soak! An easy spa night could be-
⁃ Facial! Wash, exfoliate, tone and mask!
⁃ Fill baking pans for pedicures! (sounds funny, but it works!) Soak, pumice, file, prep and paint!
⁃ Take turns giving neck & shoulder massages. Yes Please!
Get Fancy-
Create a restaurant experience at home!
Get dresses in your finest and support a local restaurant by ordering an indulgent meal. Pull out the fancy dishes, light a few candles & set the mood! We’ll be sharing NYE menus from local restaurants through Instagram stories!
Whatever you decided to do, have a wonderful last night of 2020 (YAY!!!)! Cheers to 2021! Wishing you much love, hope, prosperity, kindness and joy in the new year!
XO
