Camp Cuamba for Boys is a small tight knit summer camp run from Olson Park off Ridge Road, in Highland park. Cuamba is a unique summer camp for boys that has provided over 70 years of fun filled summers for kids aged 6-10. Our small camp size of around 30 boys allows for long-lasting relationships to be built on the grounds of camaraderie, sportsmanship, brotherhood, and tradition. At Cuamba, sports are a focus, but field trips are scheduled for just about every day with Monday hosting a major trip for the week. Improv Playhouse Film Camp at Gorton
Filmmaking campers will gain knowledge in the process of filmmaking. Our Camp Directors are chosen from professional ranks and some of the top film making schools in the country. They instruct our campers in important elements of pre-production, production and post-production, where our campers learn techniques through digital technology and professional software. Campers will be immersed in story boarding, shot list creation, casting, shooting and digital film editing. Campers should bring their own lunch and snacks.

This is a great class for students looking to dive into the world of sewing and sew fun items for summer. Project Runway with Ciao Bella Sewing
This is the perfect class for young fashion designers! We will learn the ins and outs of designing, DIY’ing and working under timelines. Similar to the hit series, Project Runway, we will work on various sewing projects throughout the week. Each day we will have different challenges; Day 1: “Hollywood Movie Star”, Day 2: “Unconventional Items”, Day 3: “It’s a Party”, Day 4: “Upcycle Apparel”, Day 5: “Flower Power” . Some challenges are group challenges and some are individual. This camp is great for students who love to be creative, original and love sewing and DIY’ing using a variety of materials, such as safety pins, hot glue, tape, etc. By the end of the course, students will have completed various projects based off of different themes. **Returning students welcome. **Returning students welcome. **All supplies, including sewing machines, fabric, sewing supplies, etc. are included.

Safety Town Majors Camp
Safety Town is an interactive safety awareness program for children 5-7 years of age. Each day the children will be introduced to various safety issues in a fun and safe environment. The program is taught by certified teachers with hands-on topics led by community guest speakers as well as visits from the Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Forest Fire Department. Campers learn about pedestrian safety by tricycling about a miniature town complete with streets, sidewalks, buildings, stop signs and a working traffic signals. Importance is placed on having the children memorize a cell phone number to call if they should ever become lost. We use fun songs to reinforce all of these principles and the children memorize our very own Safety Town Pledge!

A camp with a focus of safety with a different theme each day. We will have visits from the Lake Forest or Lake Bluff Fire Department, the Lake Forest Police Department, a Kitchen Safety Day, a Community Helpers Day and a Pet Safety Day. Lunch is included with all options.

Safety Town – Commanders
The focus of this camp will be a quick review of the original Safety Town (Majors) and will go in-depth with experts in areas ranging from fire safety to internet safety and beyond. Topics will cover many categories pertinent to this age group and including but not limited to self defense, what to do if your alarm goes off, gun safety, walking home alone, poison and medicine safety, bullying/cyber bullying and mindfulness. Camp is very dynamic and interactive, with various what-if scenarios that are played out and group discussions moderated by a certified teacher. Children will be taught things like how to use a fire extinguisher and how to exist safely in our cyber world today.

Summer baseball camp for ages 4 thru 12! Fun, Confidence & Baseball….Lil Sluggers summer half-day baseball camp teaches the sport in a fun, fast-paced and exciting environment. The camp is broken down into three parts:

Part 1: Fundamental skills – One hour of fun and energetic drills that teach and reinforce the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing and catching.

Part 2: Rules of the game – One hour of drills that teach kids the rules of the game, such as force outs, tagging up, etc…

Part 3: Game-time – One hour of a coach-pitch game with Lil Sluggers coaches in the field to teach the kids how to handle all of the situations that arise during a baseball game.

We are an exclusive riding camp that keeps are overall numbers to under 20 participants. We start camp On June 3rd and camp ends on August 23rd. Camp is Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30. The kids get a formal riding lesson everyday and we change our schedule to accomodate weather conditions. We go to movies, jump america, local horse competition days, frozen yogurt, out to lunch, etc We have a pool, an huge water slide and access to the horses and ponies all through the day. Typically the kids have a second fun ride in the afternoon. Lunches are hot and made fresh to order everyday. We also provide snacks and water throughout the day. We don’t charge extra for an early drop off or late pick up. During lunch the kids pick a movie to watch together. A premier quality chess camp that draws students of all ages and strengths from Chicagoland, nationally, and internationally. Instructors include 7 or more top Grandmasters or certified trainers.

The camp uses a “camp-within-a-camp” design, to provide the camp experience that best fits the camper’s age and chess strength. Sections include: Explorer (for all campers), and Intensive Study classes: Advanced-Youth for strong players under age 18, Advanced-Adult for very strong players or players over 17, and Master Class for players who are of expert or master strength. The various sections differ in levels of instruction, quantity of lectures and other events, and the strength of instructor. See our website for details. Instructors each spend half their time with their base class, and then rotate through other classes, providing students with a variety of instruction.

Sunday evening the camp opens with each instructor facing their class in a simultaneous chess exhibition. Each evening includes various events – sports night, blitz chess tournament, quick chess tournament, and bughouse tournament; Intensive Study classes have an additional evening lecture before proceeding to the evening event. Friday morning the camp concludes with our famous survivor simul, followed by a closing awards ceremony, concluding at noon.

All ages; campers under 10 must be accompanied by an escort. Past camps have included players from ages 5 to 85.
